Mirtala on Art

"Art ranges from purely decorative to the real language of the soul. I enjoy other aspects of art -- the decorative, the healing, the entertaining, but for me it's primarily a soul journey, an expansion of consciousness. It's the language of the heart and of the soul through symbols. These archetypal geometric patterns and symbols are encoded in our genes and come through spontaneously.

"To create on the highest level, one needs to stand in the "here/now" moment and be totally identified with the idea, the object, to merge with it. In that "now" moment one enters the eternity of truth. Only with time, did I understand the deep meaning of the seemingly pompous words of philosophers, 'Truth is beauty and beauty is love.'

"When you are in the eternal 'now' moment, you can be in no other place but truth. In the moment of creative impulse, the artist cannot lie. In that space, something that is in harmony within itself and therefore with everything else, is true and is perceived as beautiful. And anything that is beautiful - harmonious - makes us joyful.
It is a state of love."

The forms Mirtala's art takes are sculpture and poetry.

which express the soul's journey
through the world of matter back to its Source.

Books by Mirtala

As a sculptor, Mirtala's preferred medium is bronze. She has created a series of twenty-two "Mandala" sculptures, expressing soul's journey through the world of matter back to its Source. To enhance and expand their meaning, Mirtala has combined these sculptures and NASA space photographs by Hubble telescope, presented in the book Cosmic Visions.
