The Water Bearer, the Coming Avatar

Why is the term water bearer used in the New Testament? Christ spoke about the water bearer. He asked his disciples to find the water bearer so that he could show them the “room” in which the Christ would eat the Easter Lamb with His disciples. What does this mean?

“Eating the Easter Lamb” is an image for the Christ Himself whom His Disciples take into their innermost being once they have found the chamber. The chamber is the “hall of initiation” which is prepared to lead the initiate consciously into the world of the spirit. The chamber is a clearly defined space, the only one where this initiation can take place. It is the eye of the needle through which the disciple has to pass in order to reach the spiritual world in full consciousness. In the outer world, the inner conditions that the disciple has created lead to initiation in which he experiences the Christ.  

Christ will celebrate the Easter festival of His own resurrection in the higher chamber inside the human being. This resurrection is an initiation in which the Christ is born anew in the human being and the human being is conscious of Christ’s birth within him. It is the transfiguration for Christ’s disciples, although the word “resurrection” really points to one of the highest, the seventh, initiation. The seventh resurrection initiation is not yet suitable for the disciples but for the Christ who can again make an objective appearance on earth.  The water bearer will show the way to all this as he is the avatar to herald the new Age of Aquarius.

’Water’ stands for emotions, for the astral plane. Many have tried to cross the astral plane in order to reach “the other side” and failed. Human beings create this astral plane, which is why it is particularly suited to the physical human world and why it works within human beings. If he wants to return to the “Father’s House” the perfect human being on this cosmic physical plane has to cross this astral plane before he can begin to work on the mental plane. This is a sevenfold planetary path with a strongly purifying effect. It eventually goes beyond the planetary spheres and, through our solar system, gains access to the expanses of the unlimited cosmos.

The moment of initiation brings about an immediate and conscious relationship between human beings as perceivers and the highest planetary chamber. In this moment, the individual connects with his highest inner being and through this monadic connection, becomes aware of the Christ within himself.

Christ’s birth within one’s own being is the beginning of a path in which Nirvana is only the first step. It is the “never ending eternal kingdom” of which Christ spoke and this path leads through the cosmic astral plane to the mental plane.

On the way “back to the Father’s house” he crosses this astral plane. It brings joy and suffering. The mental plane knows no suffering in this sense. Through the emotional and physical level we become conscious of our mental plane and know, from then on, the meaning of suffering and pain. By including the mental plane into the physical we learn how suffering and pain can be avoided.

The astral plane can lead those astray who seek for the truth. On the lower levels it can deter them or keep people imprisoned by its ability to reflect beautiful as well as ugly images. Those who follow this path because they seek to be initiated into the “Father’s house“, must experience and cross the seven sub-levels of the astral plane. Before, all this was enough to keep the wanderer from continuing on his way through the astral plane; contact was therefore only established up to the cosmic astral plane. Up to now, our Logos has been restricted to the cosmic astral plane, but he is now in the process of moving on to the cosmic mental plane. This transition of the Logos means better life conditions on earth for all humanity because He can better coordinate His own world on the physical plane. Everything lives and weaves through Him. When he sets Himself a goal, it will necessarily include and therefore affect us all. By directing His Logoic thoughts towards “the Good” He increases harmony and love in the world because, as we know, “in the beginning was the word.” When these Logoic thoughts increasingly flow into our system, suffering will be reduced and joy increased in the world as a result.

Those who search for the truth will, however, be horrified and deterred on the lower levels of the astral plane by total destruction. They usually refuse to continue their way on this level. If they persist and walk on with faith in Christ, it can happen that they linger too long on the higher levels of this astral plane because they enjoy the duality. They either don’t want to enter it or they don’t want to cross it because the world of duality is what they know; it is the way of least resistance. If they avoid this plane there will be no progress and they will remain on the level of illusion. They will also lose sight of the higher realms and will not progress. While on the astral plane they don’t know that there are higher realms of consciousness, because the future is still hidden from them and they remain in the ray of light which they themselves have created on the path travelled so far.

The disciple who wants to reach the “Father’s house” has to leave the level of duality or of dual astrality completely behind and begin to work merely with the fruits of love and with good will on the mental plane.

The water bearer is there so that the human being does not have to cross the “rough sea of the astral” alone. Symbolically speaking, the water bearer carries across the water, across the sea, what would otherwise be devoured by it. This means that everybody can safely reach the other side of the astral plane.

Christ announced the coming of the water bearer who will complete his task when the time has come. These are initiations which the disciple takes on the cosmic physical plane but also those which lead from the cosmic physical to the cosmic astral and further, to the cosmic mental plane. We are told that “humanity is thirsty” for the truth and for the right human relations which are based on love and understanding. The water bearer fills the cup of a thirsty humanity with “the waters of life.“ The waters of life are the living waters of the true spirit; a truth that brings about the right conditions among human beings.

Right human relations arise when this truth is understood, because truth necessarily leads to right human relations. If human beings reject this truth they delay or even endanger their progress in time. Christ said that only the truth will set us free. Freedom also means that one chooses the level or substance in which one wants to live. Truth therefore can lead us to learn to consciously live on all our levels. Only the truth that lives in things and beings can help us find ourselves on another, higher, level of reality; a level of reality within eternity. It is an eternity that does not know death--an eternity in which we want to dwell forever because neither lies nor suffering nor selfishness reign there, but only love. It is an eternity where each knows his brother as his own self on another level of existence, as the Many that become the One.

The water bearer will help us cross the astral plane although the one to be initiated must have prepared this initiation in the right way. The water bearer has achieved this crossing already and knows how it can be done. He who has left the cosmic physical and the cosmic astral planes behind and can show the way to the cosmic mental plane. He is the avatar whom everybody awaits. The avatar of synthesis who connects all others and melts them into one. He is the “coming One” of whom Christ spoke, the exalted one.

The water bearer will tell us about these truths, he will make us free. Free to enter a higher reality. Free to take on our divine inheritance.
