Images for Sky Eyes
by John Raifsnider

When we look to the sky, what we see therein points to all things profound within.

The pure heart of art sees the heavens outside and the heavens inside as one world without sides, seamless as the circle, repeating through the universe, never ending without, ever beginning within.  The infinite sky is the heart’s eternal domain. The pure heart of art sees inner and outer worlds the same.

The image seen and ourselves the seeing being are also one. Eye of camera, eye of man, eye of sun are one.  The face of mirror moon but shows the light of central star, as physical world reflections invite us to ponder who we are.

To the pure heart of art a cloud may be a set of wings, a mountain may be a wave of matter mating with winged spirit, a towering tree a marriage of heaven and earth, a rising bird an escape into boundless life, a flowering stalk the sun returning to itself, a dancer on the beach the circle of the heavens at play, a falling star a promise of life from death, a human face the cosmos concentrated, recreating itself many billion times over the earth.

These images of sky, of things suspended in sky, ascending and descending into sky are but send off points for the seeing circle of the eye.  Lighting portals of the universe, may they free our hearts to fly.

John Raifsnider is a questor of the wisdom path, an ever-venturing re-creator into diverse art mediums--written, musical, performance, visual and audio, nature activism and political transformation.  His life calling is astrology, or ‘sky therapy’ as he calls it.  Love seems to him the beginning and end . . . or rather the endless beginning.  Beauty he sees as a reason for being.  Gratitude he sends for this opportunity of sharing.
