Treaty
by Andrew Nellist
Spirit has spoken;
Stupa, minaret,
Cradle and dust,
The scowling heat,
In a smile:
With a gasp
Leaving the body
For this life,
On the cross,
In an accident:
At the totem-pole,
Burning marigold
Drifting on Ganges,
In setting sun
Cremated:
But most eloquent
In service needed,
Peaceful agreement,
The little treaty,
Unutterable good.
Companions
by Andrew Nellist
Fire is singing,
Kindling torches
From one flame,
Stars lit
From one sun.
In mountains,
A meteor is sign
Of encouragement,
Shared hearth
The heart.
Pilgrims warm
The difficult way,
Companions
Of the inner light
Brighter than day.
Millennium
by Andrew Nellist
The ageold century clasps its fingers
in meditation on a new millennium.
Amidst frantic activity there is great calm.
Inner eyes foresee the future pattern,
uplifting the vision of universal man.
The internet, spreading its nervous system,
illuminates cultures, enlightening the air.
The ecosystem is examined, lengths of history
discerned in this tapestry of evolution and illusion,
ideology, battle, pollution and prayer.
We nibble and grope like moles to our future,
flit and flap like fledgeling angels
half-aware of inner flights of freedom,
forsaking old attachments, begging deliverance,
appalled, but not yet blind like Paul.
Global synthesis stares into each tortured face,
excites the particles of air which swim into our lungs,
breathes in the common pulse, thicker
than blood which has been spilt too often,
dishonouring true sacrifice.
In stress and striving, each renewed
limb and feather shapes within the nestling flame,
each eye brightens to a widening horizon,
following the path of the phoenix sky.
Poems by Marie
Unfathomable Creatures?
Here, what keeps
It interesting, we
Think, are differences we
Appear to make.
Can the chasm
We believe we see
Between us really be
When He
Who made us
Fathoms only One
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He came
Friend to friend.
Death – came.
Does friendship end?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it is a Human thing
- judging –
it means nothing
The Divine thing
Is
Loving
Everything
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blessed be we
Who are free
When we see
With one I
