Since
2003 the Living Ageless Wisdom School (LAWS) has been available to
interested students around the world. We invite your participation
should this program of global esoteric education seem spiritually
useful to you.
LAWS is sponsored by the University of
the Seven Rays and the Seven Ray Institute in grateful cooperation with
a number of esoteric schools and organizations and the teachers of
spirituality who represent them. During the past several years, many
have asked when the University of the Seven Rays would begin offering
courses in spirituality and esotericism over the Internet. LAWS is the
beginning of such a process.
THE PURPOSE
The purpose of LAWS is, essentially, to teach and spread the knowledge of the Ageless Wisdom wherever response can be found.
THE PLAN
LAWS
is intended to be an ongoing program of in-depth esoteric study using
the Internet as the principal means of communication. Anyone interested
in the Ageless Wisdom (whether extensively experienced or new to the
Ageless Wisdom) can become a student in LAWS. The process is
student-directed. Mentors will provide direction and instruction in
response to the student's interests and questions. This is an important
point to consider before applying.
The process followed
in the LAWS Educational Program is based upon a foundational injunction
given by the Master Koot-Hoomi, and presented by Master Djwhal Khul. in
A Treatise on White Magic. This injunction is : Enquire the Way,
which is the process of asking questions about reality, and receiving
answers from the illumined, soul-infused mind and its guiding
source—the intuition.
Students and mentors/teachers in the LAWS Program are those who wish to Enquire the Way—together.
On the Path of Spirituality, we progress principally by proposing and
answering our own questions—but the temporary assistance of those who
may have meditated, studied and served longer than we is always useful.
THE CURRICULUM
LAWS
offers a diversified and flexible curriculum. The various fields
of study are listed below. In essence, the LAWS Curriculum offerings
focus on the Tibetan's Ten Seed Groups and the fields of service
associated with them, but include many subjects in addition to these.
(For further information on the Seed Groups please read Discipleship in the New Age, Vol. I,
pp. 34-42) In addition, students are able to suggest an area of study
or a branch of a given area of study. If you have little or no
background in Ageless Wisdom teachings, we suggest you apply for the
Foundational Studies in Esotericism.
THE MENTORS
The
LAWS program of study is delivered by a group of LAWS
Mentors—experienced students/teachers of the Ageless Wisdom, who have
developed a deep understanding of the field of esoteric study which
they represent.
STUDENT/MENTOR INTERACTION
The
modes of interaction between a mentor (or group of mentors) and a
student (or group of students) is intended to be fourfold and
progressive.
First—a mentor's simple response to
questions proposed by students. These questions concern an area of
study within the Ageless Wisdom. Students and mentors may or may not
choose to proceed to the next phase.
Second-
Mentor-student dialogue concerning topics within that area of study. At
the moment we are emphasizing the first and second phases of the
process.
Potential eventualities:
Ongoing
group study involving a small group of students similarly interested.
An individual mentor or group of mentors may supervise such group
study. Structured classes and group service projects within the area of
study which a mentor (or group of cooperating mentors) represent(s).
APPLYING TO LAWS AND GETTING STARTED
Interested prospective students will email the Application which follows to the LAWS Facilitators. (see below)
The student will then be assigned to a mentor or group of mentors whose
field of experience matches the student's major field of interest. The
student will write a Commitment to the Self which concretizes the
student's commitment to the process. The mentor or group of mentors
will then email the student introducing himself / herself / themselves,
and respond to the preliminary question/questions proposed by the
student. The student is then free to correspond with the mentor or
group of mentors concerning the field of their common interest for as
long as both are committed. (see LAWS Students' Responsibilities)
The frequency of mentor-response may be regulated by the mentor(s),
according to the mentor(s)' availability for response. LAWS Mentors are
active servers, deeply committed to a number of inner and outer service
projects. Mentors cooperating with LAWS are offering their mentorship
as a service of the heart. In all such student-mentor exchanges, the
right use of time will be very important.
At the moment we are focusing our energies and efforts into
establishing this mentor student phase of the school's development. In
the future we anticipate that group study may develop when a mentor is
working with several students over time. We also may find that, in
time, at the discretion of the mentor and in consultation with the LAWS
Facilitators, such a study-group process may develop into a structured
class lasting one, two or three years.
Graduates of such classes, upon completing requirements satisfactorily,
may, if they wish, receive an academic/spiritual degree in specialized
areas of esotericism from the University of the Seven Rays. Such
degrees, while representing academic work properly completed, are
primarily spiritual and symbolic in nature, and are not to be confused
with conventional degrees offered in conventional universities.
The University of the Seven Rays, now incorporated in the State of
Arizona, is a non-profit, tax-exempt "Religious Organization", and is
entitled to offer spiritual or religious degrees such as the B.S.E.
(Bachelor of Science in Esotericism), the M.S.E. (Master of Science in
Esotericism) and the Ph.D.E. (Doctor of Philosophy in Esotericism). The
LAWS Program must, however, go through its developmental phases before
structured classes leading to such degrees will be instituted. Deep
students of spirituality all realize that degrees, however symbolically
and professionally useful, are not the main point of their studies; the
main point is increasing the depth and illumination of consciousness
resulting, inevitably, in enhanced effectiveness in the service of
humanity.
LAST POINTS
As
you can see, the procedure is simple. The astrological sign Gemini is
very important in the LAWS Initiative as the major process simply
involves illuminating communication between an interested student and a
responsive mentor. The service objective of each mentor is to
facilitate a growing esoteric understanding within the consciousness of
the student or students which he/she is assisting. In this way, the
Light of the Ageless Wisdom will be increasingly spread throughout
humanity, uplifting, illumining and strengthening human consciousness,
and preparing (in a small but significant way) for the Externalization
of the Hierarchy and the Reappearance of the World Teacher (who is Head
of that Hierarchy—the Great White Brotherhood).
LAWS STUDENTS' REQUIREMENTS AFTER ACCEPTANCE
LAWS students are expected to:
a. establish and maintain a meditation practice, with some direction and instruction from their mentor(s)
b.
submit a Student Meditation, Study and Service (MSS) Form each month
just after the Full Moon. This is the one formal communication which
occurs between student and mentor. The guiding questions on the MSS
help the student to reflect on their experience and work in the areas
of Meditation, Study and Service.
c.
Other, less formal communications between student and mentor may occur,
as agreed upon by the student and mentor, with respect given to the
available time of their mentor.
d.
write, as part of the monthly MSS Form, a synthetic section to share
anonymously with the larger group of LAWS students. All students will
receive a Synthetic Document with all other students' Sharings
included. Michael Robbins, President of the USR, will respond to the
students' sharings and insights.
THE MENTOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE STUDENT(S)
The
service objective of each mentor is to facilitate a growing esoteric
understanding within the consciousness of the student he/she is
assisting. Your mentor will respond to your MSS by the New Moon of the
month. His or her communication may, for instance, answer questions you
may have raised in the MSS, offer further suggestions for study,
pondering, or meditation, or clarify and expand on points you have
made, etc. You, the student, will work out with your mentor(s) the
extent and nature of other communications that may occur during the
month.
TUITION AND SUPPORT FOR THIS WORK
There
is no tuition or fee for participating in the LAWS Program of Esoteric
Study. Freewill donations to the University of the Seven Rays and the
Seven Ray Institute are gratefully received, and will be used to help
finance their annual International Conference, to provide scholarships
to that Conference for worthy students in need, and, in general, to
further the purpose of teaching and spreading the knowledge of the
Ageless Wisdom wherever response can be found.

Students in areas of the world where making a donation in US funds is
impractical are asked to make donations of money or service to
charitable organizations of their choosing in their own country.
WHAT DO I DO NOW?
After reading this presentation, you may at any time begin the process
of 'Enquiring the Way", by submitting your short Application and
preliminary questions to the LAWS Student Services Center, which
will then connect you with a mentor or mentors. From that point, the
process will develop organically between you and your mentor(s). The
general result will be, we trust, the growing illumination and
empowerment of all concerned, and the enhancement of their ability to
serve.
