Michael Robbins, President of the University of the Seven Rays Michael Robbins, Ph.D. in Psychology, Ph.D.E. in Esoteric Philosophy. As Co-founder and President of the University of the Seven Rays, and Director of the Morya Federation— Schools of Occult Meditation (the Internet expression of the USR), Michael (and his coworkers) has persistently sounded and sustained the note for sponsoring USR/SRI Conference, now in its 24th year. As a long-standing teacher of the Ageless Wisdom through the study of the Seven Rays, Esoteric Astrology, Cosmology, and Rayology, he has inspired students worldwide, some of whom have gone on to form their own organizations to continue the spread of the Ageless Wisdom. Michael is the author of Tapestry of the Gods (two volumes on Rayology), Infinitization of Selfhood (a philosophical treatise on the nature of Essential Identity) and is currently writing a three-volume treatise on Esoteric Astrology. Michael’s extensive commentaries on A Treatise on Cosmic Fire, The Rays and the Initiations and Discipleship in the New Age, Vols. I and II, and astrology can be accessed through the Makara Website. Michael is the co-creator (with Rick Good) of the Personality Identity Profile (PIP II) now offered in a new version over the Internet and used widely for purposes of ray assessment. Michael has composed and authored fifteen musical, ceremonial ritual dramas and astrological Solar Fire Festivals that facilitate the invocation and expression of energies of the twelve Zodiacal Signs for the monthly festivals of the emerging New World Religion. He resides in Helsinki, Finland with his wife, Tuija with whom he collaborates closely in teaching the Ageless Wisdom, and in Phoenix, Arizona where he collaborates musically with Harold Moses. The World Jewish Glamour: A Change in Attitude The Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul has said that the Jewish problem is one of greatest urgency for the Hierarchy at this time and which Humanity must confront. DK has said that the Jewish people are Humanity in microcosm, that there will be no world peace until the issue is solved. The situation is currently approaching major crisis, so how can esoteric students and members of the New Group of World Servers help to heal this ancient dilemma? This presentation includes historical, rayological and astrological perspectives of the Jewish people; the demonstration of a constructive approach towards the resolution of this world glamour - based upon DK’s instructions to his disciple Roberto Assagioli; plus the sharing of some initiatives that a group of students have embarked upon. Facing the Glamour: An Inquiry into our Relationship with Jewishness In continuation of the plenary session, here is an opportunity to look inside and touch, recognize and work with our own relationship to the Jewish phenomenon. In a guided meditative inquiry we will explore the Jewish soul purpose and unique function within Humanity and also its shadow, as it is experienced in ourselves. We will share our experiences and discuss how we as esoteric students and meditators can play our part in the resolution of this world problem. Fourth Ray all the Way! Keith Bailey Keith Bailey has been primarily a musician and composer. He founded Fiery World Music in London in 1978, and then again in 1984 in New York. He is to be "composer-in-residence" of the One World Symphony in NYC shortly for their next several seasons. In the late 1990's he founded the NYC based choral-group, the Gandharvas. Keith has been an active student of the Ageless Wisdom since the 1960's and has emerged as a teacher, writer and speaker in the international esoteric-student circuit, writing and speaking on a diversity of esoteric and occult topics. Keith's main work, however, has been attending to a major reformation of Masonry, for which purposes he founded what is now an international Masonic Order, Grand Lodge, Ancient Universal Mysteries (AUM) over which he now presides as the principal directing officer, having branches in the USA, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and with new branches opening up in South America and Europe. Words on Water
There is a potency and intimacy peculiar to web-based communities that overwrites conventionally-perceived limitations such as age, political bias, ethnicity, kronos time and measurable space. The web is a mighty equalizer – like the ocean, it wraps us around, drawing our continents together. We take our place around the virtual table and at the press of a key, enter worlds we might ordinarily not have access to, with people we might ordinarily never meet. Before we know it we’re engaging in a depth of communication that has all the elements of privileged encounter and sacred space. If water is the medium of the unconscious, might we consider the web its metaphorical equivalent? To borrow words from a friend, "We have a choice to pick our way around the fringes where wonders can be found, sure enough, washed up out of their element, OR to throw ourselves in, half-naked, alarmed and gasping but soon elated, afloat, finding that 'it' — the ocean, the community of people — is holding us up. And 'it' is all shot through with wonders and toxins, nutrient-rich streams and currents bearing death, predators, prey and symbiotic arrangements . . . held together in the mare-mother-matrix of a common life." - Penelope ToddDuring these times of accelerated awakening, I’m drawn ever more to poetry, music and the moving image as powerful communication tools within our global arena. It seems to me that as our world’s clamor and confusion increases, so listening and stillness are being recognized as vital agents for peace, advocacy and transformation. This mixed-media presentation will track across a range of real and imagined territories, from recent collaborative ArtScience projects in Antarctica to the daily rhythms of work in my Dunedin studio. I will share my creative processes, thoughts around ‘chaos and coherence’ and what I’ve come to call ‘the necessity for protest in the form of poetry and pause.’ Claire Beynon Claire Beynon is a fulltime artist, writer and independent researcher based in Dunedin, New Zealand. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and won awards for both her visual art and her poetry and short stories. She recently discovered filmmaking and looks forward to seeing where this medium might take her. Her film Hidden Depths – Poetry for Science was selected for screening at the PolarCINEMA event in Oslo last year; since then she has made a handful of short experimental arts films. Increasingly drawn to global networking and interdisciplinary exchange, Claire has established valued partnerships with scientists, filmmakers, musicians and fellow artists and writers around the globe. Her intention is to develop a home-based meeting space for meditation, collaboration and creative exchange. Antarctica has her under its spell; she visited the continent in 2005 and 2008. She anticipates returning there later this year and again in 2012. Environmental advocacy is a key concern. |

Religion: Many Paths; One Way - Back to the Source In his book, Problems of Humanity, the Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul insists that “…men are tired of doctrinal and dogmatic differences and quarrels; the study of Comparative Religion has demonstrated that the foundational truths in every faith are identical.” (156) He also emphasizes that “the day is dawning when all religions will be regarded as emanating from one great spiritual source; all will be seen as unitedly providing the one root out of which the universal world religion will inevitably emerge.” (140) The Tibetan further reveals that “we are also visioning a new and vital world religion, a universal faith which will have its roots in the past, but which will make clear the new and dawning beauty and the coming vital revelation.” (152) Therefore, in this presentation we will explore Religion, Comparative Religion, the Wisdom Religion, and the New World Religion. An examination of the Wisdom Religion and 7 World Religions will reveal 16 major elements that they all have in common. We will also explore 15 significant similarities that the Founders of these religions all share. The presentation will conclude with a brief overview of the New World Religion which will emerge from the “one root” and “foundational truths” provided by the World Religions which preceded it. The presentation will be in DVD format. It will feature instructive narration, inspiring music, and illuminating religious, spiritual, and visionary art. We will cover as much of the above as time permits. Robert Borel Robert holds a B. A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin and an M. A. in Interdisciplinary Consciousness Studies from John F. Kennedy University. He compiled Death: The Great Adventure (Lucis Publishing Company, 1985), a compilation on death from the Alice Bailey books. In 1987, he worked closely with Michael Robbins, Mary Ann Casalino and other coworkers in founding the University of the Seven Rays. Robert was an original member of the Board of Trustees and the Religion faculty of the USR. His Initiation: Fire From Heaven, a 900-page compilation on initiation from the Bailey books is available on the Makara.us website. Robert is currently transforming manuscripts on four integral aspects of the New World Religion (Death, Rebirth, Comparative Religion, and Initiation) into DVDs. Evening Performance Sofia Diaz Sofia Diaz is a hatha yoga master, a recipient of numerous meditation empowerments in both Tibetan and Shakta Traditions, and holds Balasaraswati lineage in South Indian temple arts. The rigors of her practice enable her to clarify for the western mind the body wisdom practices in which she is empowered. She has taught Feminine Spiritual practice for 27 years. She helped found and is faculty of iEvolve; she founded a school of Hatha Yoga and Sacred Movement Arts in Boulder, Colorado; she is a Fellow of the Integral Life Spiritual Center. Sofia holds a bachelors Degree in dance from Mills College in Oakland, California and a Masters Degree in religious studies from the University of Colorado. Monet, Archetype of Light The artist Monet was a pathfinder in terms of really understanding light and presenting it in a way that uplifts and inspires. It is said he cracked the code of optics long before science figured it out. This talk will touch one aesthetics and what that really means as it relates to the fourth ray of harmony through conflict. The presentation will close with a short meditation accompanied by Phillip Glass' composition entitled "light", a piece that musically describes the splitting a beam of light at the University of Chicago. The music, like the viewing of Monet's Water Lilies, fills one with a sense of awe, great beauty and joy. Enkindling the Fires of Imagination This workshop will explore artistic projects for transformation. Participants will learn about the Aha Museum in El Salvador, a cultural center and exhibition hall dedicated to the cultural development of the Salvadorans and international peoples; its goal is to promote ethical and aesthetic practices for a world of peace and the health of the planet. We will learn about the Festival of Arts in Pakistan held after the terrible floods of 2010. This project was funded by tiny donations (less than $300) from the U.S. to "put smiles back on the children's faces." Hundreds of people attended. We will learn how music changed the street children of Venezuela and how this lesson is being transferred to Los Angeles, CA. We will discuss what else can be done to further the arts to restore harmony in place of the conflict that comes from fear, death and privation. We will talk about what we can do. Gail Dimitroff Gail Dimitroff holds a PhD in Leadership and Human Behavior. In 1980 she chaired the County Commission on the Status of Women and is an activist for women and women’s issues. She advises and consults with her husband who is the Trustee for the Hansen Foundation for World Peace. Some of the projects include: The Women Peace Makers at the Joan Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, The Hansen Summer Institute as well as some agrarian projects in the Middle East, Peace Products. As a business consultant in the field of continual process improvement Gail taught, published and lectured in North and South America. Gail considers herself to be a spiritual peacemaker and holds group meetings at her home in La Mesa at the time of the Full Moon for world peace. She is an active participant in AAUW, VOW, and a graduate of LEAD San Diego. She went with Jimmy Twyman, the Peace Troubadour, to Israel in 2004 and later completed a Master of Divinity in 2007 with an emphasis on Peace Making. She is also an ordained Minister of Peace in concert with the Beloved Community. Gail has been a student of the Ancient Wisdom for over 40 years and is currently a Faculty Member of Morya Federation. A Glimpse Behind the Art of Nicholas Roerich In the early part of the 20th Century, Nicholas Roerich’s work was very visible. He helped to create the Master Institute of the United Arts, the Roerich Museum, the Corona Mundi Institute, and the Himalayan Research Institute, all the while producing extraordinary paintings of intense beauty. He wrote, “Culture is the emulation of highest bliss, of highest Beauty, of highest knowledge. After ignorance we reach civilization; then gradually we acquire education, then comes intelligence; then follows refinement and the synthesis opens the gates to higher culture.” Go behind the art to the meaning and symbolism of the paintings. See them in context and hear Joleen tell some of the stories behind the paintings. Joleen Dubois Joleen Du Bois is a teacher of esoteric studies, the Ageless Wisdom; she is an accomplished writer, astrologer, composer and musician. Ms. DuBois is the founder and president of the White Mountain Education Association. WMEA was founded in 1982 and is presently 28 years old. She is also Dean of the St. Sergius University and Seminary, a new esoteric school that was founded in the year 2000. In the last few years she has traveled and spoken in many countries on 3 continents and last year she visited the Roerich Museum in Mongolia. Joleen and her group translated and published the book, At the Threshold of the New World, from the Russian version. The book is about the life and work of Helena Roerich, the mother of Agni Yoga. Creativity and Spirituality: The Making of a New Age Artist We will explore various meanings of creativity in light of the different arts and a number of ways to stimulate that creativity. Many artists, past and present, have felt the need to indulge the darker side of life in their work. I will challenge this view by pointing out that the Soul is the True Artist, then discuss the use of meditation and other spiritual practices for tapping the higher sources of creative inspiration. If there are astrologers in the group, we can look at astrological forces at work for the next two decades as these seem to indicate that the time is right for the birth of a true Aquarian age art. What You Can Do Now -- for yourself, your community, your world Theory is good. Knowledge is good. Both are needed and necessary. But after one understands the theory (or at least some of it), after one has obtained the knowledge (at least some of it), comes action. This is the Action. It was recently placed on the internet where people can obtain their results immediately. In this workshop, Rick and Michael will talk about recent changes in this instrument that can help you define your rays and, as a result, perhaps help you help the world! The Esoteric Significance of Crop Circles Crop circles are world-wide phenomena and present themselves as a fascinating form of communication to and for Humanity. In this workshop, we will explore different ways of understanding and discerning the esoteric meaning of the crop formations and what the circle makers may be trying to tell us. We will examine, from a scientific point of view, what distinguishes a genuine crop circle from one that is man-made, and speculate on how a crop circle may be formed. We will talk about the many types of crop formations, the symbols that appear, and how they have changed over the years. Also discussed will the subjects of ley lines, devic influence sacred geometry and the beauty of the imagery. The Tao Te Ching and the Fourth Ray Technique of Integration The Tao Te Ching, an ancient Chinese book, is written in an enigmatic manner that makes it difficult to understand. Modern scholars differ in their interpretations of that book, resulting in many translations and commentaries. Alice Bailey’s “Technique of Integration for the Fourth Ray” is a modern formula written with abstruse symbols. This talk clarifies these two obscure texts by showing their similar passages. The Fourth Ray Technique of Healing Alice Bailey, in her book Esoteric Healing, presents “seven healing techniques,” one for each of the seven rays, but with very little explanation. She does say that these techniques "are susceptible of three significances.” This workshop focuses on only the fourth-ray healing technique and gives two significances for it. The first significance is a method of healing through sounds and music. The second significance is a method of service that incorporates the six characteristic qualities of the fourth-ray soul ray. Zachary Lansdowne Zachary F. Lansdowne, Ph.D., served as President of the Theosophical Society in Boston, and has been a frequent contributor to The Esoteric Quarterly, which is a free on-line journal. D.K., Kalachakra, and Shambhala David provided evidence that the Tibetan D.K. would have been a Kalachakra master in Tibet in a 1991 Beacon article, “D.K. and Kalachakra”. Kalachakra is a highly regarded system of esoteric teaching that was preserved and practiced in Tibet and is known as the teaching of Shambhala, because it is regarded as the state religion of Shambhala. In this talk the Shambhala connection will be brought in to complete the connection between D.K. and Kalachakra. The human energy system is composed of a great diversity of astrological and ray energies. We understand from the study of astrological aspects (the angles between planets) that these energies either harmonize with each other or have a dissonant relationship which, unless wisely handled, promotes difficulties in self-expression and a non-integrated presentation of self. Progress on the Path of Spirituality calls for the harmonizing, blending and merging of these diverse energies so that they express the qualities of soul and even Spirit in an integrated manner, but the task is not easy. The soul-illumined mind can be a valuable instrument in bringing about this harmonious integration but sometimes even higher sources of wisdom are required. The buddhic plane is the Plane of Harmony and Pure Reason. In popular parlance we call it the Plane of Intuition. Intuition is “straight-knowledge” unmediated by the reasoning of the lower mind, and holds the key to the resolution of many dissonant states found within the personality and also between the personality and soul. If we can learn to evoke the intuition through the power of the creative imagination and the use of the antahkarana (the rainbow bridge) we can “call down” the wisdom (the “buddhi”) of the spiritual triad (our higher triad) and apply that energy to our personality with its various conflicts in such a way that it becomes a spiritual instrument expressive of the higher energy currents. In this year’s Esoteric Astrology pre-conference we will focus on the energy of the Fourth ray of Harmony through Conflict (the Ray of Harmony, Beauty and Art). We will attempt to access the fourth plane (the Plane of Intuition) through the use of the antahkarana (or “bridge of light”) and, through the use of the images and symbols revealed, attempt to bring harmony, unity and oneness to our personal and spiritual energy system. We can learn to use all astrological aspects to good advantage. Conflicting energies need not remain conflicting and disintegrative. The Light of Wisdom, the Light of the Intuition, can discover the latent harmony between these energies and unite them to express the beauty of our ‘Inner Spiritual Name’ revealed upon the inner and higher planes.
